Folk Art - Crafts

Mass Immigration to America...Folk Art painting styles become popular!

During the seventeenth, eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, immigrants flocked to the United States by the thousands. Among these immigrants were creative and artistic individuals. They settled in rural communities and their life as traveling artists began. They painted on tin, fabric, wood, and furniture, they did sign painting and fractur painting as well. They were called on to paint the architectural details of country homes and decorated the coaches that 'folks' traveled in. They painted walls, floors, floor cloths and murals. Over the years, we can only imagine they created a huge body of work that is today prized and highly collectable Folk Art. Many pieces of these early artworks (folk art) are housed in private collections or in museums around the United States and other parts of the world.

Here are downloadable painting patterns that will teach and help one re-produce some of these popular Folk Art Styles.
