Designed and Painted by Gabriele Hunter.  Taught using versatile artist grade acrylic paint.

The focus of this class is to introduce the artist to Stroke Flower Petal Painting using a historical Chippendale Style of Decorative Painting.  And whether or not you are interested in the historical aspect of it, this is a fun and truly beautiful way to paint!

A smaller study and two large paintings  are completed in this e-video tutorial class. The class covers many painting techniques such as the use of transparent layers over semi-transparent underpaintings.

The instructor demonstrates how depth and dimension can be developed with this interesting technique through the layering method of painting. This course will expose the student to a style of painting based on the 'veiling' technique that can be used to create many future paintings. These are transferrable skills that can be used again and again, especially if you love to paint flowers.

NOTE: These beautiful floral designs can be enlarged to fit oversized canvas surfaces. The design can be cropped, and painted as smaller floral vignettes. This design is very versatile and offers several possibilities for home decor.

Learning outcome:

  1. Learn to create a value underpainting.
  2. Learn to glaze with transparent pigments.
  3. Learn to control light and create movement.
  4. Learn to paint a Chippendale Rose.
  5. Learn to work with mica pigments for creating iridescent accents.

Student has unlimited access to the class videos.

The class gave me a better understanding of this traditional style. Loved the underpainting, it is so cool. I used the technique on other paintings so you taught me lots to continue with.
