From the teacher: "Over the many years of my teaching career I have been asked numerous times about painting a colorful red parrot. The Macaw bird is the largest of the parrots. It's beautiful red feathers are brilliant and stand out against the backdrop of the deep green rainforest. This particular bird is actually a red and green macaw, known as the Green Winged Macaw. In the photograph above you can just see the start of some of the green feathers along the back of the bird." "If learning to paint a tropical bird is on your agenda, and you want to learn about underpainting, I will show you how. I love to paint all types of tropical birds, mostly because of their beautiful and brilliant colors! In this painting class I share a step by step approach using an indirect painting method, meaning, the bird is painted using layers of colors. The bird is developed with several independent layers that teach color harmony and the translucency and depth of the red color. In this class you will discover a great painting method to preserve the brilliance of the red hues by using a yellow/gold underpainting. This approach will show you how the beautiful golden under-painting will enhance the subsequent layers of red color." How the Class Is Taught:
