Peter Ompir style painting falls under the umbrella of Early American painting styles. Born Charles Burns in Pittsburg, PA in 1904, he changed his name to Peter Ompir which translates to “Peter the Great” in French.  Peter was often referred to as the “Dean of Decorative Painting”.  He's quite an interesting character to read about.

Over the years his style of painting was embraced by many decorative painters and has become a popular one to use for decorating useful and functional items for the home.
