Media: Acrylic or Watercolour
"Crocus - Spring Awakening" by Artist Donna Richards is an Acrylic/Watercolor style painting
Paintings such as this one can be done in a watercolor style even if you don’t use watercolor paints or add a watercolor medium to the acrylic just by using watercolor techniques and painting in thin washes of color and blending out with clear clean water.
I used acrylic paint but did not use Watercolor Medium in this painting but that is always an option. If you want to use Watercolor Medium prepare the paint using an equal amount of the medium and mix thoroughly on a waxed palette using a palette knife (mix for 1 to 2 minutes) and then transfer to the wells of a watercolor palette and proceed from there according to directions.
The painting techniques and instructions are exactly the same whether you use acrylic or actual watercolors.
This design was painted with DecoArt Traditions Acrylic paint using watercolor techniques! Of course regular watercolor paints can be used if you prefer.
