DVD - Flemish Technique, A Flower Study of Rachael Ruysch -Acrylic - Susan Abdella MDA

Love to Paint Flowers? - Love the Old Masters Style & Painting Method?

A Study after Rachael Ruysch is just what the Dr. Ordered!

DVD for Acrylic or Oil Painters - Intermediate Level.

Don't let the size or appearance of this Rachael Ruysch painting intimidate you. Susan explains and walks you through every step practiced by the early Old Masters using the Flemish technique,  covering the Imprimatura and Umbra Layer (painted in Acrylics) , and then the Dead Layer and Color Layer (painted in oils). It was filmed in oils simply because Susan taught this design to a group of oil painters - who by the way almost completed the painting in 3 days!  This style and technique is very achievable and successful in acrylics - in fact when finished - you can't tell the difference!

The DVD though in oils, also incorporates acrylics and the instructions are written for both - oils and acrylics.

This DVD set includes 3 disks - 3 1/2 hours of video, and 1 CD containing detailed instructions and step by step photographs.

Susan Abdella's DVD on the Flemish Technique is the most clearly explained and simple presentation of a difficult subject I have reviewed. Highly recommended.

I love this DVD it explains everything you want to know about the Flemish Technique. It is easy to understand and Susan shows you step by step what she is doing so there is no guess work. The colors are bright and not muddy. I would recommend this DVD .
