This re-released design has been expanded as a lesson and has been newly converted to Traditions paints. This lesson uses both a wet on dry and wet in wet technique. The lesson teaches the artist how to use intensities and values for three dimension. The lesson also explains the use of the rake brush for painting hair and how to show transparent illusion with fabric. The extensive instructions help the artist learn transferable skills. This painting looks pretty in a little girl’s room.

This design will teach you to work with a limited palette of colors. Use contrast and emphasis to build interest. The student will learn to create depth, build form and dimension as well as learn to unify a design through the use of whimsical elements. This is a good design to teach dry brushing, wet in wet blending, brush control and how to control light.

This pretty Fuchsia Mantle Clock measures 15” x 7”.  The nine page lesson comes with detail instructions, along with nine photos and a line drawing of the design.  Complementary colors of red and green are used to create a limited palette along with using four value scales to paint the entire painting. This is an excellent exercise teaching blending techniques for acrylics and can also be used to reinforce the concepts of value and form. Learn to mix a chromatic value scale and apply tints and accents.  Extender medium is used to ease the application of light and dark values.
